Overwhored Review

Sat, 02/22/2014 - 12:54 -- BlueWinds

Overwhored is a free mind control and humor themed RPGMaker game that's just released a major overhaul of all its maps.

Sadly, this overhaul is not an improvement. The new maps are very pretty, but they are way too big. I get lost in my own tower continually. After spending literally 15 minutes searching a city full of locked buildings for someone, I gave up and closed the game. SMALLER MAPS ARE BETTER in RPG maker. Decide all the features you want, then make the smallest map that includes them.

I'm going to review version 0.3 - the one with the old maps - because IMO it was a better game.

Progress (or lack thereof)

Fri, 02/21/2014 - 02:19 -- BlueWinds

I have not been productive this past week and a half. Just sort of feeling... lazy. Not depressed, just tired and mopy.

I did write one really long scene involving tentacle monsters making a harem out of your entire staff (including you), but it doesn't have images yet. Backer who requested this, you get ~1000 words rather than 150. I was feeling inspired. :P

Instead of being edifying and informative, I'll be lazy and leave you with a link to David Brin talking about storytelling. Go read that before continuing.

Harem review

I played through the latest release these past couple of days, and thought I'd give a review of the game.

This post gets an image of Monbach because while he'd enjoy the game, I can't particularly say I'm thrilled. Karter would probably play it, and masturbate furiously the whole time, but he'd be a bit ashamed of himself afterwards.

Women in technology

Sun, 02/09/2014 - 19:46 -- BlueWinds

So, I thought I would take some time to articulate some of my experience as a woman in tech.

1. Male privilege is real, and it is harmful.

The company I work with is rather small right now - a dozen people, only half of them full time. The CEO is male. The two other full time "tech" people are male. Two more part time tech contractors are male. The social media consultant is female, but we have as little in common as it's possible for two people to have (she has two children and never talks about anything except kids, partying or fashion).

Version 0.82, and a Poll

Which option did you choose, upon Wend and Hilde having their big fight? If you reloaded to look at more than one option (or have played through more than once), which one did you choose first? Before you knew the consequences, which one "felt right"?

Development Snapshot:

Nothing to report

Fri, 02/07/2014 - 01:36 -- BlueWinds

Today is the 11th annual International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation.

So, I was going to write a post, maybe update on some progress... but the subject matter just made me feel icky and sick. I'm usually pretty good at talking appreaching difficult subjects dispassionately, even those I have personal experience with (not this one, thankfully), but FGM is viscerally disturbing to me in a way that no amount of logic can overcome.

I'm going to go curl up and hide from the world for a few hours now. Thinking about it has left me too upset to do anything productive tonight.

Images, Running, Prostitutes

Sat, 02/01/2014 - 19:39 -- BlueWinds

First: I've started another image cleaning thread, dedicated to Karter / Katri. Hop on over there if you're interested in helping out. :)

I've been getting out about five nights per week for running. Not always a full two miles - sometimes I'll just jog home from somewhere I went during the day, and not feel like going out again later.

Last week, my fastest / furthest was 2mi / 20 minutes. This time it was 2mi / 18 minutes. It's an improvement! Not a huge improvement, but a good start.

I had very few takers for my challenge to get in shape alongside me. Those of you who did accept - have you been getting out daily? At all? Take up a sport of your choice because it was too cold outside? Share your stories, success or failure, in the comments. I want to hear - really, I do.
